Directwave has a feature called "Extract root key from filename", where it can get certain data about each sample from the title of the file. I am trying to use this feature to assign root note, key range, and velocity range, but I have had no success getting it to work. Would someone help spot what I am doing wrong? This is my first time attempting it.
As I understand it, the file needs to be named based on the following syntax:
[Title of sample]_[Root note]+K[Key range]+V[Velocity Range].wav
Here's an example of how I have one of my samples named:
snare.c&c.close.hit_C#5+KC#5-C#5+V121-127.wav
This is a close mic'd C&C snare hit that I am trying to map to C#5 from Velocity 121 to 127.
According to the instructions on http://www.image-line.com/support/FLHel ... ctwave.htm under Disk Operations Menu, this syntax should be correct.
In FL Studio, I add a new DirectWave instance to the channel rack. In the Options pane to the right under "Samples", I ensure that "Extract root key from filename" is checked. I click on the folder icon at the top-left of the DirectWave window, and select "Create program from samples". I select the folder that contains my samples and hit "OK". A window pops up with the title "Confirm" with the message "Program nr. 0 (---) will be cleared first. Are you sure?". Since I have not loaded a program yet, I assume this is referring to the default, empty program. I click "Yes". At this point, the right-hand browser pane in DirectWave navigates to the previously selected folder and that's all. No samples are loaded, no zones are specified. Simply a continuously empty window, no matter how many times I repeat the process and no matter which samples I try.
I believe I have followed the instructions, but I assume that since this isn't working, it must be user error. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you.
