All Soundcloud links go to the same track; I've posted it multiple times so people don't have to scroll when jumping to the latest post. I've outlined the changes over time in the individual posts.
I've left the original post below, but be aware that it is out of date!
Finally got some time to work on a new track this week. The name is still up for grabs, so if you have a suggestion, let me know!
I've more or less got the arrangement down. This is a pretty naked mix with me having just set the levels roughly in the right place for now. The tracks have been panned a bit too. No FX on any channels apart from the bare minimum to get things to work (compressor on vox, amps on guitars etc.). It's probably not worth worrying about the nitty gritty details right now - I want to finish the songwriting first and do any recording that still needs doing.
I need to re-record some of the vocals, as the song's groove has changed quite a bit over time, so some of the words are a bit off in timing now. Might need to re-record the guitar in one or two places too; not sure yet. Drums probably need a bit of finetuning still. I've gone for more of a drum synth feel here rather than real drums.
In general, I'd like your thoughts on the arrangement. The intro is just something I threw in there so it doesn't start of too abruptly, I still need to fix that. If you have any ideas for the intro, don't hold back! The bridge transitions are probably still iffy, but I've heard the track so many times, that they sound fine to me. Again, any ideas are welcome. I could also still add the odd instrument or some spot FX in places if you think they would be a good idea.
There's a fadeout, which I think fits the track. I know not everyone is a fan

According to legend this is the place
Where the worshippers of idols disappeared without a trace
And I was wondering just what on earth possessed them to believe
That there is more to life than we perceive
The coast is clear
There’s no one’s here
And still we hear the voices of the past
Don’t hold back
We’re still on track
To be caught in the nets that we have cast
Out of destruction a new world reborn
Where the past is relegated to subject of our scorn
And there is no doubt as to what has led us here
The ghostly echoes whisper in our ear
The coast is clear
There’s no one’s here
And still we hear the voices of the past
Don’t hold back
We’re still on track
To be caught in the nets that we have cast
I’ve got that feeling, I’m lost in time
The world is reeling and I don’t mind
It’s so revealing, I’m hoping to find
That little space, that secret place where we can both unwind
Déjà vu: we’ve been here before
And in the meantime we’ve forgotten what it is we came here for
For we’ve got it in our hearts and in our heads and in our bones
To be drawn towards the path of the unknown
The coast is clear
There’s no one’s here
And still we hear the voices of the past
Don’t hold back
We’re still on track
To be caught in the nets that we have cast
