the mystery of the blur decay knob & the pluck blur button

what do these actually do?

in all my detective work, it seems that no matter what sorts of filters or envelopes you throw at it, the blur decay knob does nothing... unless you have pluck activated, in which case it seems to override the decay of the partials that would normally get filtered by the pluck shape.

okay, cool, so we have an extra knob for shaping the pluck... but this makes the blur button next to pluck even more confusing.

this is supposed to lead to "pluck replacing blur decay" - but blur decay does nothing unless pluck is activated, meaning that this button simply has the effect of turning pluck off AND making the blur decay knob do nothing.
