my vocals become distorted after mixing sounds

so i have been recorded literally forever and i have no idea why but out the nowhere every time i record something it sounds ok by itself but once i unmute the instrumental the bass is like heavy af and my vocals sound all messy, i even got the new FL to see if it was the software but it did the same
