Traktor Kontrol S8, I dont know what im doing. please help.

I am trying to use my Traktor Kontrol S8 as a midi controller with Flstudio. I get my S8 into the midi mode and fl detects it in midi settings. Whenever I press any buttons I get a green knob with a "?" in the hints window. I am trying to do finger drumming on the FPC but can get no results from it. I am sure I am just overlooking something simple. when I right-click on pads no menu comes up where I can select "link to controller". When I go to "learn" under 'Midi Note' in the FPC there is no mapping anything to the controller despite Flstudio registering im hitting a midi controller. I haven't used my S8 but I also have a Kordbot connected and it works just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
