How to get sound from the Behringer k2 ( ms20 clone ) ?

All my controllers are usb connections, so the k2 is the first i've used with a midi cable involved, so sorry for the noob question. I'm sure it's something really simple.

I have an Alesis Vi61 as my keyboard. The K-2 is getting its power via usb which is attached to my Behringer X-Touch( the power is independent of the x-touch ).
The midi cable is plugged into the midi socket on the front panel and the other end is going into the back of the alesis vi61.
In the midi settings on FL studio, the K2 is enabled as an input and set to channel 90.
I play the alesis keyboard expecting sound, nut I got nothing.
There is a light on the k2 that lights up when I play a key on the alesis, so it's receiving midi ok, but I have no audio.

What have I missed ?
Thanks
