copying/pasting notes into another pattern?

Hi,

I have two patterns created in playlist. One of them has recorded notes in it and the other one is an empty pattern i placed in there.What i was wanting to do was copy paste 'some' of the notes in the pattern that has the notes in it and then go over to
the empty pattern and paste those notes in there. But, when i tried doing that, it wouldnt let me. Trouble is, it wont let you edit
pattern on an empty pattern; if it could, you'd be able to go in there in the edit box and paste the notes in that way. Soooo, is there
another way to do this?
