Any plans to get rid of "MIDI ports"?

I have often posted my frustration with MIDI ports in the past, so this time I thought I had rather ask if there are any plans to get rid of them and replacing them with something different and straightforward?

Simple example: For Arturia KeyLab's Analog Lab mode on the controller to control Analog Lab 4 software in FL Studio, you need to assign MIDI port numbers to the controller and Analog Lab 4 software. Once you do that, the controller does control Analog Lab 4 as intended, but once you load other channels/synths, the Analog Lab 4 continues to play along with them! What? Why!

Please look into this at some point.
