I feel a little silly for asking, since it's probably not that hard, but I have a hard time approximating it for some reason.

Its just a regularly repeating pulsating sound.

Here it is in New Order's Someone Like You, it gets introduced at around 1m15s.


Here in Digitalism's Pogo a similar sound starts off the track, though it sounds more compressed and electronic here


It's hard to put into words, but it has something of a cut-and-paste quality to it
