Spacebar to stop/play not working with mixer effects like Newtone after update

Has anyone else had this problem?? I've been through all the settings and nothing is working. Basically right before this newest update everything was fine, I was able to press the spacebar on my mac to stop and play the timeline in Newtone. Now it doesn't work what so ever and I have to manually press the play and pause button which is a huge hiccup in work flow. The normal timeline however does play when I press space and even when I have another plugin open like Newtone it just plays the normal timeline now instead. Thought it was a detached window issue or something but again nothing I've tried so far has worked. Any ideas on how to fix? Or am I just being dumb and it's something obvious.
