just to demonstrate that I "really don't know what the f--k I am doing."
I also took apart a $30 dollar interface a few months ago and have kinda done a small amount of reverse engineering to understand how the components are actually working.

the $30 interface probably just uses a single texas instruments audio processing chip (probably includes a DAC, ADC, some level of amplification, some software integration/firmware that allows the device to communicate with windows via a driver).
this $300 interface probably has a much more sophisticated structure.
am really just doing this for education purposes. wanna know more about how the firmware stored on the IC (in this case, multiple ICs) allows the device to communicate with the asio driver (some info about the audio signal as it passes to the device from windows).
I took apart a busted $300 audio interface.
