For the mixer, the part where we rename it... let us add notes here. For example, when we highlight the mixer track name (or number or icon section)... let a tooltip box pop up where we can leave notes.
OR.... if the mixer track name is too long, display the full name in a popup box. This would be an alternative way for us to leave notes. As a professional mix engineer, we sometimes leave reminders/notes for ourselves when mixing.
