Low volume or glitchy audio recording

Hi, I have just purchased FL Studio for Mobile, using it on a Google Pixel 7 (Android). I am trying to record audio from a Roland J-6 synth, and have got my audio interface (a Zoom F-1 field recorder and audio interface) connected to the phone via an OTG adapter, and the synth's audio out running into the audio input on the Zoom F-1. I can hear the synth audio (and other instrument sounds from the app) in my headphones, and I can see the app is picking up the audio. When I record, I can see the audio waveform appear but cannot hear anything on playback. When I switch on Multi core processing and switch between ultrasafe / safe / fast / native sound sources I can hear the recorded audio very faintly or a little louder (but not loud enough) and glitchy, even with the track and master volumes turned up full. When I add an audio record track I don't see an option to select an audio source, there's just the monitor button and an option to add a module or send and to adjust master volume.
