Lately I have been going thru a number of old projects and there are many I can't open. One major reason seems to be that plugin names have changed. Example is Arturia B-3 V that was updated and now it's named B-3 V2 in FL Studio plugin manager. In many cases when installing updated versions of third party plugins the name can change. As a result FL Studio is looking for a plugin that doesn't exist when trying to open an old project.
The plugin is actually still there but the name has changed, but FL Studio doesn't know that. This is of course not FL Studio fault but I would love to see a feature where FL Studio would ask me to point to the plugin so the old project can be loaded with the new plugin name. As a work around I could copy the .dll file and re-name the copy back to the old name. That will make FL Studio find the plugin. The problem with this is that It would bloat the Harddrive and in my case I have over 2k plugins.
As it is now FL Studio is trying to open the old project but it becomes non-responsive. In the end I have no choice but to force a close down of FL Studio. Is there perhaps some function already implemented that could help me to open old projects despite updated plugins with new names?
Thanks!
