Multiple FPC instances -- on separate midi inputs?

I have just begun experimenting with multiple FPC instances (in same project, for simultaneous use), and FLS seems to allow multiple

The downstream (output) triggers from each instance seems to be clear (hope I am not speaking too soon); however, I am not sure of the upstream, external, INPUT triggers on individual instances...

If you are using external controllers, can you control the routing of your triggers to individual FPC instances ? Like, for example, an external trigger arrives only on Midi channel 1 and only FPC instance 1 is triggered. Similarly, second FPC instance is triggered on a different midi channel? Thus, full separation control.

What is the best, easiest way to control such routing? (Or is it not possible?)
