Edison grid to project tempo

I have been meaning to bring this up for a while now. I love Edison but I don't like its beat detect as it seems not to be correct for certain samples. It would be nice if the lightly colored grid that is in the background would actually match the project tempo so I can just cut samples to the actual length that they should be. As it is now, I trim the front of the sample but to get it to loop right, I just send it to the playlist and then cut the end so it loops correctly. Now maybe Edison has a way to do this I just don't know how to get it to do it
