Novation Launchkey 49 MK3 setup that works for me

Hey guys, so I wanted to give you all some information on how I setup my Launchkey 49 MK3 keyboard in FL Studio v21.2 after purchasing it in March 2024. This is currently setup on a Win10 PC. This setup is what worked for me!!

SETUP:
First make sure you’ve installed the latest drivers and firmware for your Launchkey 49 MK3 from Novation’s website. Also make sure you are on the latest FL Studio version (at least version 21.2). This will allow the correct scripts to appear on the MIDI Settings page.
With Launchkey turned ON go into FL Studio’s MIDI settings and under OUTPUT section select MIDIOUT2 (LKMK3 MIDI), turn ON Send master sync then add port 26. Under INPUT section select MIDIIN2 (LKMK3 MIDI) and for CONTROLLER TYPE select “Novation Launchkey MK3” then add port 26 and Enable. Also under INPUT select LKMK3 MIDI and for CONTROLLER TYPE select “Novation Launchkey MK2 (keyboard)” under Built-In (Legacy) list and Enable. No need to set a port number for this one. ADDITIONAL MIDI SETTING OPTIONS:
For OMNI preview MIDI Channel on MIDI Settings page add a 7. This allows for a different channel on the Channel rack to be triggered depending on which keyboard piano key you press starting at C5. But first you’ll need to change the Keys MIDI channel on the Launchkey under [Settings] button from channel 16 to “7” for this to work. This allows the Launchkey’s keyboard to act like an MPC. If you want the keys to act like a regular piano keyboard again then go back into the Launchkey [Settings] and change the Keys MIDI channel back to 16.

I also turn ON the Pickup (takeover mode). This allows the Launchkey’s FADERS and POTS to trigger the Pans and Volume controls on the mixer more effectively.

FUNCTIONALITY:
With this version of FL Studio (21.2) there is built-in integration with the Launchkey MK3 controller series

This new integration lets you use Launchkey 49 MK3 to:
- Trigger notes from Drum pads
- Control mixer channels Volume using the Launchkey’s nine FADERS
- Control mixer channels Pan using the Launchkey’s eight POT knobs
- Use the Transport buttons (PLAY, STOP/PAUSE, RECORD)
- Control Metronome ON/OFF using the [CLICK] button on the Launchkey
- Use [UNDO] button on Launchkey to undo the last thing you did in FL Studio
- Select channels on Channel Rack using [UP] [DOWN] arrow buttons on Launchkey
- The Track [LEFT] [RIGHT] arrow buttons on Launchkey allow you to scroll through 8 mixer channels at a time
- […] button allows you to use the four of the Launchkey’s pads to navigate through the FL Studio browser just as you would if you
used your mouse or the arrow keys on your computer keyboard (LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN). The process also works in the mixer to
scroll across one mixer channel at a time.
- Trigger FL Studio’s FPC pads (17-32) on Bank B using the Launchkey pads
- Changing channel colors on Channel rack will also change the color of Drumpads on Launchkey to match.

There are other basic functionalities of the Launchkey 49 MK3 like Arpeggiation, Octave Up/Down, Scale, Pitch, Modulation, Scale Chords, User Chords, Custom, Settings, etc… that will also work in FL Studio. I haven’t figured out how to setup the buttons under the faders yet though.

I hope this helps someone.
