I appreciate there are so many forum posts about CC Hi Hats etc already but I've spent ages reading through them all and trying everything everyone has suggested but nothing works so I'd really appreciate one "source of truth" answer (if anyone has it) as none of them seem to quite match the issue I am experiencing.
A friend has recorded some midi drums for me using his Roland TD-17KVX with a VH-10 hi hat (via Logic). He sent me the midi data and I've imported it into the piano roll for Superior Drummer 3 (SD3) vst plugin. However, the hi hat CC is not recognised.
I have the exact same set up as him for SD3 (he sent me the preset etc) and if I import the midi data into Reaper it works fine. If I import it directly into the built in SD3 midi editor it works fine.
I've read lots (and I mean LOTS) of posts about this on the forum but all of them refer to needing to link CC4 to itself, or you need to auto detect the CC4 controller by pressing the hi hat. However, I do not have a drum kit to do this. I just want to play back data that has been sent to me.
I find it absurd that this doesn't work out of the box but it works fine in other DAWs and there is no clear explanation anywhere of how to get this to work simply.
Could anyone please (please please please pretty please) tell me exactly what I need to do? It's honestly driving me to despair (it's keeping me awake!) and I shouldn't need to be a rocket scientist surely to just get midi to work as intended.
Thanks so much!!!!
- - - BTW, I've also sent a similar message to technical support about this as it just seems like madness to me but I don't know if they'll be able to help or not as it may not be considered a technical issue. Obviously if they send anything I'll update this post.
