I noticed that my automations were not working for mute/solo if there was any high latency plugin in the mixer that is sending audio as sidechain.
This makes it impossible to properly mix with automations when using plugins that have latency.
I upload this silly example using Frequency Splitter for adding artificial latency.
In the project I link 1 automation to:
- mix level and mute/solo of first fx slot in the second mixer track.
- mute/solo of the second fx slot in the second mixer track with no plugin loaded.
Please follow the following steps to reproduce:
1. Open the project.
2. Make sure that both the Playlist and mixer track 2 are visible.
3. Press play.
What happens:
mix level behaves as expected, but 1st slot mute/solo automation is erractic (wrong values) the first time it plays. If you let the bar play again, mix will work as expected again, but mute/solo will always be off forever. 2nd slot mute/solo behaves as expected too.
What should happen:
mute/solo automation works as with mix level and 2nd slot mute/solo.
What else:
-It seems to happen only at samplerate = 44100 Hz and 'Compensate automation' = on in Mixer settings.
-It is not neccesary to press play to see the wrong automated value, you can also click on any part of the timeline to force an update of the value.
Conclusion:
If a mixer channel receives a sidechain signal with added latency, automation of mute/solo of any slot with plugins loaded will be erratic.
