Request: Mixer Workflow – Plugin Handling, Track Movement and Arrangement Support

Hi Image-Line team

I’ve got a few mixer-related feature ideas that could really speed things up and help keep things more organized especially when working on bigger projects where clicks and time start to add up.

1. Drag handle for moving mixer tracks (Mouse-Based Movement)

Inspired by DAWs like Studio One

Right now the only way to move mixer tracks is with Alt + Left/Right Arrow or Shift + Scroll. That’s okay for small projects but once things grow it gets laggy and frustrating especially if you're moving something from track 60 to track 5.

Feature request:

Add a small drag handle at the top of each mixer track so we can move selected tracks just by dragging with the mouse.
  • Is way quicker than using keyboard shortcuts
  • Is more intuitive and hands-on
  • Helps to keep everything tidy and organized especially in larger sessions

2. Faster way to copy whole mixer effect chain to another track

Right now if I want to reuse an entire FX chain, I have to right-click the mixer track → go to File → drag "Save mixer state as" onto another track.
It’s kind of buried into context menu, slow and requires careful dragging

Feature request:

Make it easier to copy or move full FX chains, for example:
  • Right-click → "Copy FX Chain" and then "Paste to..."
  • Or let us Ctrl + drag from the FX area straight to another mixer track
This would make it much faster to build templates or duplicate setups for layering and bus routing.

3. Reuse or Send Individual Plugin Settings to Another Mixer Track

Let’s say I’ve got a nice EQ curve set up and want to reuse same settings on another mixer track.

Right now:
  • I have to open the plugin context menu
  • Drag "Save preset as" to another slot
  • Or search for the same plugin in the browser and try to find the preset manually
Feature request:

Let us select a plugin with something like Ctrl (since it’s not used for anything in this context) and:
  • Show a draggable icon on the left and highlight the plugin slot green
  • Allow direct drag and drop to another mixer slot or track
Alternative idea:
  • Open plugin context menu → "Send to mixer track..." → enter target mixer track number
Advanced option:
  • Support multi-select (Ctrl + Shift + Click)
  • When multiple slots are selected, enable “Send as patcher to...” in context menu
  • This would pack the selected plugins into a patcher and place it in the selected track keeping the plugin chain order
This would massively reduce time spent copying setups and make effect chains more flexible and reusable.

4. Per-Arrangement Mixer States (Forked Automatically on Edit)

FL Studio supports multiple arrangements which is amazing for trying out different ideas or building multiple songs inside one project. But the Mixer and automation clips are still global so any change affects everything.

Feature request:

Let each mixer track hold its own mixer state per arrangement
  • When adding a new arrangement it uses the default global mixer state
  • If I tweak something (volume, pan, plugins, routing) while on that arrangement that change is saved to a unique mixer state just for that arrangement
  • When switching arrangements FL automatically loads the correct mixer states
This would act like automatic branching so we can mix each arrangement freely without needing to copy the whole project.

Extra touch:
  • Show which tracks are using arrangement-specific states (maybe a small icon or label)
  • Right-click option to reset back to default state or force a track to always stay global
This goes even beyond what automation clips currently do since those are still global as well

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These workflow improvements could make a huge difference for producers who care about structure and keeping project clean.

Thanks!
