This is a simple Fruity Delay 3 patch designed to kill delay tails by scaling the input, feedback, and wet signal simultaneously with one slider. It was inspired by "Broken Home" by Burial, which includes a long delay tail at 0:14 (and throughout) that gets abruptly cut off – I love that effect.
When lowering only the wet knob on a delay, the feedback will rise back up in volume when the wet knob is raised again (depending on the feedback strength), as the delay buffer isn't cleared. The red "killer" slider in this patch therefore acts as a mute and buffer clear, which can be automated quickly for special delay throw effects. (The buffer will be fully cleared if the killer slider remains at 0% for a duration of time equal to the delay time.)
The control surface only includes the gain-related controls for easier automation access, since they are most relevant to the purpose of the patch. Also note that this patch is configured as a delay send to make further processing easier. (The Dry knob on the surface controls a Fruity Send dry level, not the dry knob on Fruity Delay 3 which is intended to stay at 0%.)
Hope you find this useful!
