I realised I almost never explored many of the plugins I already owned: the repeated opening, selecting and loading kept interrupting me.
So I built a small standalone VST3 audition browser:
- search
- step through plugins
- play a MIDI phrase or feed an audio file through an effect, and keep sounds worth revisiting.
Within one session, I rediscovered a choir instrument I’d forgotten about and started using it in a composition.
I also added the browser to FL Studio’s Tools menu.
Here’s a quick demonstration, 3 minute vid (Plugin Audition.mp4), no talking.
Does this address a frustration you have too? How do you currently explore your collection?
