Synthmaker Decibelometers CONFUSED???

The defult level meters in synthmaker are aweful. i want to be able to make one exactly the same as the ones in fl studio how can i do this? the synthmaker level meters flick about all over the place as they try to follow the wave. what are the fl studio dB meters doing (maths wise) that make them stay in the same position regardless of the waveform. the just seem to cancel it out somehow. please tel me whats going on.
