Many questions from a newbie

Firstly, I'd like to say hello to everyone! :D

I'm going to be asking a number of questions in this thread, but please bear with me, I'm completely new to DAW software.
I'm looking at purchasing some software to use on my PC to make music (to begin with, probably by dragging and dropping loops into a timeline), but as I progress I may record my own stuff.

I know there's various software titles that do this (have also been looking at Sony's ACID Music Studio), but the free lifetime upgrades that Image-Line offers is superb.

Now, I know there are various versions of FL Studio available at whatever version I purchased would be a downloaded version.
I'm probably either looking at Producer or XXL, which as I understand it are essentially the same, but XXL has extra plugins that I may or may not find useful.

So my first question is, will FL Studio allow me to create music from scratch using loops that I can drag to a timeline? I should make it clear that I have no loops to use, so I assume FL Studio includes a library of them?

I know absolutely nothing about how to connect keyboards etc to my PC, but I have a Yamaha PSR-3000 keyboard. These are the sockets it has on the rear:

I need to know if a) I'd be able to connect this to my PC, and b) Whether FL Studio would be able to capture the sound I play and record is as an editable sound?
In terms of available ports to plug it into on the PC, I obviously have USB ports. The soundcard I have is an integrated Realtek HD Audio (uses ALC888) on my motherboard.

These are the ports I have on the back of the PC (the black, yellow and green sound ports are taken. I have my speakers plugged into those):

So based on this, would I be able to connect the PSR-3000 to my PC, if so, what ports do I use (and what kind of cable) etc. What funtions would I be able to carry out on FL studio using the device?

I'd be looking to do simple things to begin with, like playing a tune on the keyboard to input the notes, rather than using the PC to do it. I presumably could then apply effects to the notes I'd recorded etc?

Any any advise on which edition of FL studio would be suitable for me would be welcome.

I'll also include my Computer specs incase there are going to be any issues:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (x64)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 2.8GHz
RAM: 4Gb DDR2 800MHz
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P
SOUND: Integrated Realtek HD Audio (ALC888)
GRAPHICS: Radeon X1950Pro 256Mb

I appreciate I've asked a lot of questions, hopefully that's okay.
If FL Studio will be suitable for me, I wouldn't hesitate before purchasing.

Thanks in advance,
Vorthal. :)
