Buffer underruns gone crazy... I didn't change a thing!

Hey guys-
any ideas what could be causing a fresh batch of underruns to be plaguing my system? Just today FL has been glitching out like nothing else! I normally have a 256 buffer size on my M-Audio Profire 610 (6ms), but today the CPU load is over 85% even when nothing is playing, and just simple MIDI tunes are causing glitches galore. I tried increasing my buffer size, and it made no difference. I tried switching sound cards- no difference.

I can't think what could possibly have changed since I last used my system... it's normally bulletproof and smooth!

I restarted my system, turned the soundcard off and on... checked the drivers, tried changing to "fixed sized buffers" etc... no idea what could be causing this...

Any help?

Thanks =)
