This is an idea for a 'Cue Mixer Track' which sits AFTER the master. It is an additional track to the Mixer Preview Track. It helps with live monitoring for oneself and with setting up a monitoring mix for a musician in the studio.
When the Cue Mixer Track is selected, all the send knobs of the other tracks (including the Master and the Mixer Preview Track) should turn into 'get' knobs. By 'get' knobs I mean that when the Cue Track is selected, you can adjust the send amount of every mixer track to the Cue Track.
The sends to the Cue Mixer Track should be switchable between prefader and postfader.
There should be a menu which can 1) set all 'gets' from normal mixer tracks to 0%, 2) set all 'gets' from normal mixer tracks to 100% and select postfader and 3) 'copy mix to cue' = set all 'gets' from normal mixer tracks to the value of their mixer track volume fader and select prefader mode.
Advantages of the 'Cue Mixer Track' over the current 'Mixer Preview Track'-only functionality:
1) The Master can be sent to this track. This makes it possible to send the main mix to one output and the main mix combined with prelistening sources to another output.
2) A monitor mix for a musician can easiliy be set up with one menu operation (copy mix to cue)
3) The monitor mix is not fader dependend. In the control room the mix can still be adjusted while the musition hears his personal mix. On the other side if the musician needs a part louder it can easily be adjusted without ruining the mix.
