Alesis Micron and fl studio 8

I was wondering how I would go about recording from audio from my micron to FL Studio. Like what cords I would need and how to set it up. From reading the manual it says all I need is two midi cables but I am not sure if this is just for sequencing or recorindg actual audio and I don't even know if FL Studio is a midi sequencer. The only other piece of equipment I have is a firebox sound card. Here http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=50700 it explains a different method for recording audio in which it says to connect the audio out from micron to inputs of sound card and then enable the midi port. I was wodering whats the differnce from the two and well which one would be the way to go. Thanks any insight would be very much appreciated.

Sequencing.
This setup allows you to use your Micron with a MIDI sequencer
or a computer with a MIDI interface. Attach one MIDI cable from
the MIDI OUT of the sequencer or computer to the (MIDI IN)
jack of the Micron. Attach another cable from the Micron’s
(MIDI OUT) jack to the MIDI IN of the sequencer or computer.
