Hey.
I just watched some of those studio rescue videos and I've decided it's time to redecorate and acoustically treat my room. I've already picked out a set of monitor stands, and the LCD screens are going to get wall-mounted on swivel mounts (I have dual 32", so I really need to tilt them inwards slightly). This will mean I can get a smaller desk, which I can move slightly further away from the wall than current. Probably going to get some better lighting in there as well.
Onto the acoustic treament; I found a local place that apparently manufactures acoustic foam for leading companies in the UK; http://www.acoustic-foam.co.uk. They work out way cheaper than the vicoustics ones; you get a lot more pieces for way less money (cut out the middleman). Here are the tiles I want, and these are the bass traps. They're matching designs
I have to admit, I know very little about the absorption coefficient values. Those numbers mean nothing to me, so I thought I'd check with you guys. I could be better off making my own from some wood and rock wool, but I have to admit they do look very professional, which is a part of the appeal.
Do they seem ok? I can improve the room in time, but I just want to make a start for now.
Cheers...
