Audio Out Laptop

Hey all

im on a very tight budget or Â£500 to Â£550 and i want to buy a laptop (just for office and web surfing and music software like FL and reason) and a synth or a midi controller.

On the other post i made in a differant sub forum, im trying to decide between MicroKorg, MicroKontrol and a Novation Xiosynth.

I prefer the Korg microKontrol myself, but i was wondering how good does it usually sounds (through reason for example) a midi controller out the headphone port on a laptop into a speaker/pa system?

Or is this a bad idea and shud go for a full synth and just a cheap laptop?
