Automate knobs without using the 'Last Tweaked Parameter'?

Is there any way to automate knobs of a finished Synthmaker synth without using the 'Last Tweaked Parameter'?

I would really like to be able to automate the knobs using the standard "Edit Events in Piano Roll" method, such as with Sytrus.

Can someone post an .OSM example of a small synth where the knobs are controlled by the 'Edit Events in Piano Roll' method?
