'Musicians' making money using pirated software

Because we live in the digital age, it is getting easier and easier to find [pirate] software via the internet. You can find almost anything on the internet including FL Studio and Ableton Live, etc.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have or are making money producing music and probably getting away (or not getting away) with it.

The question is, has anyone 'big' or not big got caught using this? If so, how do people tell if they are using the pirated software and how did they get caught?
