weirdness with samples switching on me

Hi.
I have a weird issue where the samples I use seem to reset to random other sample whenever I open a file.
The title for the sample remains correct, but the sound associated with it is different (mostly distorted basses).
It seems to be getting worse and has now started happening when when switching between loops.

I'm using surface, and the deployed version is 1.4.
Any assistance appreciated, starting to get a bit frustrating....
