Studio One v3 got a new feature called the "Scratchpad", which is basically a secondary Playlist. Unfortunately, I think they over-engineer this when it should have been a lot simpler: All that was really needed was two simultaneous views of the same playlist, not two independent views and the ability to move things across between them.
In FL Studio we could have two identical Playlist windows that can be scrolled to different positions in the song. This would allow for a very flexible workflow. Clips could be clicked in one window and painted into the other window, etc. Many text and code editors have this feature, so that users can simultaneously view two non-adjacent parts of the same document. In this case we would be able to see two parts of the Playlist, at different vertical & horizontal zoom levels. Here's a mockup:
