I'm a JoJo fan, and recently I noticed that the sound effects in JoJo are really fascinating. They are not regular sounds like explosions, gun fires, punches etc, but they are very recognizable, even one of my friends who doesn't watch JoJo instantly recognizes the za warudo (time stop) sound effect. I then tried to recreate the effect, but I found that very hard to handle. They seemed to add lots of distortion and weird stuff that I can't tell, and they pretty much nailed it.
Here's three effects, all famous and from JoJo. These two are both time stop effects but from different characters. This one is time erase effect.
My question is that how can I recreate the same effect, and how did they come up with those legends? There aren't many tutorials about anime sound design, that's why I come here.
