I've yet to find a way around relying on manually automating levels to equalize overall volume. I usually simply use the Limiter because I'm too lazy but I'm sick of pushing all the mid- & high-frequencies within the areas that don't require gain. Is there no tool that allows me to set a threshold area to adjust gain?
Specifically, I'm using a spoken vocal track. Sibilance sits below the voice nearly 100% of the time. It'd be a really useful tool to have control over gain between a specified region of amplitude. I'm surprised there hasn't been something implemented already. Is there some mathematical reason it can't be programmed?
Would it just not make enough of a difference to add?
