Hey everybody, it's time for a new contest. This month it's all about the probably most loved sound, the voice! Now it's your turn to show us what you can do with only your own voice and FL Studios Effects.
There is no limit of how much sounds you record or what kind of sound you do with your mouth. If you like to do an acappella, that's cool, if you want to record your voice, put effects on it to create some drum sounds, make it sound like an instrument, make a goa track, make a metal track, anything you can imagine to achieve with only your voice and FL's effects.
The detailed rules are as followed:
- Record any sounds you can do with your voice in a room or outside and make a complete song/track with it
- No Synth and sample except your recorded own voice is allowed
- No use of any object (except the microphone) close to your mouth while you record (Examples: a flute, a paper, your hands etc. should not be used)
- Pick and use only one Microphone for all your recordings, it can be stereo or mono
- Some edits and effects are allowed to use before you drag the sample into FL Studio:
- Use an EQ to silent/lower some unwanted fequencies/background noise that doesn't come from your voice like deep rumble, white noise etc.
- Cut the samples in a way that makes sense
- Use Volume to normalize the samples and to get rid of click, breathe and other unwanted noises
- Use Newtone to do some pitch and time correction
For all the effects above, don't do any crazy stuff, just the basic things to prepare the samples and make them ready. All the crazy stuff you can do inside your project within FL. (Examples of what not to do: Don't cut a single cycle waveform and drag it into FL. Don't pitch up your voice for 2 octaves in Newtone. Don't use the volume to create a stutter effect. And so on ... do all these things if wanted later inside of your project)
- All FL Studio effects are allowed
- Track length must be between 1:30 & 6:30 min.
- Both the zipped FL Studio project (.zip) and .MP3 must be uploaded in this thread (SoundCloud link as an extra add is also appreciated)
- You can loop sounds, also create a single cycle waveform out of your voice and use it further, but just don't overdo it as this is not a single cycle waveform contest. I don't give an exact amount or rule, just keep that in mind.
- Every participant may provide up to 3 entries
The contest runs until May 29th 20:00 GMT. After that there will be 3 days of voting.
The winner of this contest will have the right to host the next one.
