How come my modular isn't responding to Voltage controller properly?

So i'm sending CV out using voltage controller through my MOTU interface, with correct floating ring cables, i have mod source set to pitch, but the notes aren't corresponding at all to what i'm playing. It takea about 7 keys apart to make a one note change. All in between that are just off tune somewhere in between notes.

Has anyone tried it with a motu interface recently? It's an old 2408mk2, which theoretically should work? I used to use a CV.ocd for this but i lost it moving house. Gutted
