Like just making a variation of the sound for the left and right channels, maybe a slightly different texture, slightly more reverb, slightly different eq, and parameter settings (speeds of lfos and stuff) is way more authentic stereo width than just adding a chorus or widener.
I am surprised that only Vital, so far, seems to have implemented this idea. So you can stereo-ize each parameter.
