By track area, I mean the area to the right of the pattern picker where you can name/color/move tracks. This might sound like an odd suggestion, but for a lot of people's workflows, the playlist is used like a blank canvas without horizontal tracks having a direct meaning. In fact I think this freedom is one of the coolest things about FL, and it would be even cooler if you could embrace it further by minimizing this area like you can the picker panel. For most my projects, it is just an inch of space running down the screen with "Track 1, Track 2" etc. running down it.
I'm sure there's a thousand more important things to do, but for some reason this is something I've wanted.
